If this is the case, then the description to the skill should say "gives 5% bonus to mining speed".
5% bonus to mining YEILD infers quantity/amount of ore mined.
I'm sorry but either change the description because it is misleading, or FIX THE DANG SKILL.

The drones don't need a "fixed cargo hold." There is the Planck Bubble Technology now. Instead of the 30m3 cargo hold, drone YIELD at 2x mining drone skill should be 33.075m3. It isn't so the skill must be broken
Also, they don't mine any faster. They still have a cycle time of 60 seconds. If the skill was modifying that, it should be 54.15 seconds for lvl 2 mining drone skill. It isn't. The skills should say 5% bonus to MINING SPEED. It doesn't so the skill must be broken.
If the skill was modifying the Drone speed, Harvesters travel at 250 m/s. They still travel at 250 m/s at mining drone lvl 2 instead of the 275.625 they would be at if the skill was working. The skill doesn't say +5% bonus to mining drone SPEED. The skill must be broken.
I'm sorry but your arguments are bogus. The skill is broken and should be fixed.

I raised a similar question over a month ago. I put in 2 detailed bug reports and waited patiently through 2 patches. The arguments from my question and questions raised by others went back and forth across the boards over whether the skill was broken or not and at no time did a Dev step in and say anything. Also, nothing changed with the skill.
I firmly believe the skill is broken and should be fixed. At this time none of the variables on the drone have been changed by my mining drone lvl 2 skill.
The way the skill description is worded infers that the skill should add to the amount the drones mine and not to the speed of the drone or how fast it mines.
I do not feel like letting this subject die, so I will keep bumping it until one of 3 things happen.
1. The devs respond and let us know the deal.
2. The skill gets fixed.
3. This thread gets locked.

Mining skill description for Lasers: Skill for mining asteroids. +5% Bonus to mining yield. What it does is give 5% to the mining laser skill which is an increase in the amount of ore mined.
Mining skill description for drones: Skill at controlling mining drones. 5% Bonus to mining drone yield.
Hmmm... lets see... similar wording, one gives an increase to the amount of ore mined and not to the cycle time of the miners. Wow! Following that train of logic you might expect the drones to increase the amount of ore they are carrying and not to their flight speed or laser cycle time.

Actually Harkov it is easier than that. Just open your drone info while in space mining. If the skill was working you would see some type of change to the info.
Harvester Mining Drones:
Speed 250m/s (no change)
Mining cycle time 60sec (no change)
Ore capacity 30m3 (no change)
I have mining drone 2 and soon to have lvl 3. This has remained the same since lvl 1. The Mining Drone skill reads that it increases ore YEILD, and if you read the information on mining lasers it is basically the same. Also the same wording for Astrogeology which also increases ore YEILD from the mining lasers.
The only conclusion you can reach from this is that the skill is broken.

Mining drone skill seems to be fixed. With Mining Drone lvl 2, I am getting 2 units of bistot (16m/3) per cycle per drone. That is where it is supposed to be.
